WordPress Multi-Site vs. Google … Is There A Concern?

Posted by TheToolWiz  Published in Wordpress Tips + Tools

Someone sent me the following question:

Does using the MU mode cause problems with Google ranking?
Seems I read once that Google doesn’t recognize sub-domains for high value.

My short answer is, why would the search engines care?

Why Would You Want To Use WordPress In Multi-Site Mode?

Posted by TheToolWiz  Published in Wordpress Tips + Tools

Wordpress Multi-Site VideosI got a couple of questions from people regarding WordPress Multi-Site options, and I thought they’re worth addressing.

The first one was from someone asking whether WordPress Multi-Site mode would be useful for their situation. I realized I never really explained WHY you’d want to use it … silly me! The second was more specific, and I’ll address it here more generally.

More On WordPress Multi-Site Mode (WP-MU)

Wordpress Multi-Site Videos

This is a follow-up from my last message about WordPress in Multi-Site mode. (Formerly WP-MU.)

WordPress Multi-Site / Multi-User (WP-MU)

The message I want to convey here is simple:

If you’re doing any kind of online marketing, and you don’t know how to use WordPress in Multi-Site mode, you are wasting a HUGE amount of time!

Even if you’re just a blogger and you set up new blogs on a regular basis, you ALSO want to learn about WP in Multi-Site mode.

Why?

Three Awesome WordPress Products (one’s free!)

Posted by TheToolWiz  Published in General, Wordpress Tips + Tools

A while back I told you about a great WordPress theme for sales pages called Digi Launch Pad.

The author of DLP has just released something else that’s equally awesome. It’s called Digi List Builder, and it’s again on sale for 1/4 of the final price for a limited time.

This is what one of the reviewers has to say about it:

This neat little toy is powerful.

You want a sidebar opt-in form in your WP site?
You want a pop-under opt-in form?
You want a COMMENT SECTION (tick by default) opt-in form?
You want your visitors name and email to be automatically filled-in to the opt-in form?
You want to simply copy and paste your autoresponder’s code into this plugin?
You want to have a lightbox opt-in form?
You want an opt-in form to be placed under each and every post?

You’ve got all of these in ONE plugin! Not only that, Andy told me it will be a user-feedback-driven kind of plugin, i.e the more people request for a feature, the more features we could have, in the plugin!

You’ve got to see it to believe it!

It’s a TIME saver, and also a MONEY saver! HUGE ONE.

Read more about it here:  Digi List Builder

This link will actually take you to the WSO page for this offer. Watch the video, then grab a copy of this awesome WordPress plugin.

(I’m seeing this more and more — people setting up affiliate sales programs and hosting the offers as WSOs. Considering that WSOs now cost $40 to post and bump, you certainly get a lot more mileage out of them by sending more traffic to them!)

A second product that was released a few months ago, but that has not been getting a lot of visibility, is a set of 8 videos by a guy named Istvan Horvath that explains how to work with WordPress 3.0 in “multi-site” mode.

If you have been setting up WordPress sites as separate standalone sites, you could save yourself a HUGE amount of time and/or money by learning how to use the latest multi-site features built into WP 3.0. You can actually create a new WordPress site in 10 seconds, and have all of the plugins and themes from your main site INSTANTLY available to the new site!

Moreover, he shows how to make updates to your main site and, with just a couple of mouse clicks, have them installed on ALL of the other sites!

And not to fear, he also covers what’s needed to “park” your domains so they point to the WP sites so they look as if they’re hosted on completely separate sites.

If you use WordPress for online marketing, you absolutely MUST get these videos and learn how to use WP in multi-site mode. It’s truly a game-changer!

Go here to learn more:  Dream Tool Videos for WordPress 3

I’ve gone through Istvan’s videos and used them to set up a multi-site WordPress installation. His instructions are clear and very easy to follow.

The best video is the last one that shows how to migrate your existing wordpress sites over to the multi-site installation. I’m about to move 25 sites from separate hosting accounts over to one common site using Istvan’s ideas.
This will save me a HUGE amount of time in the long-run, mainly because I can get to any of the sites from the single “super-admin” account on the main site. WOW!

Finally, a third goody I found is actually one of the myriad of free plugins found on the wordpress.org site. It’s called the XCloner Backup and Restore plugin. This plugin goes WAY beyond what most of the fee-based backup plugins do, and it has far more options.

Let me know what you think of these, and if your interested in hearing about other WordPress tips and goodies I’ve found.

The BEST WordPress sales page theme I’ve seen yet!

(sorry, my redirects aren’t working properly. This is a temporary page instead of a 404 page.)

.
I just found the most awesome sales page theme for WordPress!

As you probably know, I’m a BIG fan of using Rapid Action Profits (RAP) with the Add-To-Cart addon to create Buy Now buttons that can be put anywhere. In particular, it’s really easy to create sales pages in WordPress and put an Add-To-Cart button on them.

The problem is, most sales page themes I’ve seen either look like crap or they’re ridiculously expensive.

I’ve got several premium WP themes, and while they’re quite flexible, you have to lay out every page every time.

I’ve also got some themes created for WP that are supposedly “sales page themes”, but they’re more akin to fancy borders that you can load up in a Word doc, if you know what I mean. You get a nice border and color scheme, but that’s about it.

I just came across this premium theme called the Digi Launch Pad theme, and it’s just da BOMB!

It lets you create sales pages in WordPress that look very similar to what you can do with Kajabi, Easy Video Player, and many others.

It’s currently listed as a WSO for $27, but the price is supposed to increase to $97 sometime tomorrow (Friday) the 12th. (Sorry I didn’t notice it sooner!)

They also have a Developer’s License that you can get for $97 that lets you flip sites that have this theme installed on them. (The price goes up to $297 tomorrow as well.)

I just got a copy of this and I’ll be playing with it over the next few days. I’ve been looking for a nice and INEXPENSIVE sales page theme to use with WordPress, and this looks like it’s the perfect solution.

Why not go take a look and if it looks like something you can use, grab a copy while the price is still low. The author is offering a 60-day return period, so it’s hard to go wrong!

BTW, one thing that’s not obvious about it that I got clarified is that you can use any payment button want with this. It has support for PayPal and built-in, but you’re not restricted to them.

Anyway, check out this awesome sales page theme and let me know what you think! –> Digi Launch Pad theme

More on WordPress Plugins

Posted by TheToolWiz  Published in Wordpress Tips + Tools

Someone sent me an email thanking me for this list of “recommended plugins”.

I’m not sure I’d call these “recommended” plugins, per se, unless they fit a need you have.

Rather, just a bunch I’ve found in my travels that nobody really seems to discuss. They mainly focus on working with Pages, as well as a few heavy-weight ones that people don’t know about.

WP has two ways of posting things: As a “post” and as a “Page”.

WordPress — Not Just A Vanilla Blogging Platform!

Posted by TheToolWiz  Published in Wordpress Tips + Tools

People seem to think of WordPress as little more than a blogging platform.

They just updated it to V2.9, and I thought I’d take a minute to share some insights in the hope that you’ll spend a little more time with it.

In V2.8, they added something I consider AMAZING from a technical standpoint — the ability to update plugins, themes, and even WP itself right from within WP! WOO-HOO! They’ve managed to solve a very complex problem there, and I think it’ll just explode the use of WP.
